TECHNICAL THEATER WORKSHOP

Wild Horse Children’s Theater and the Carson City Bob Boldrick Theater present a technical theater workshop designed for students ages 12 and up interested in the behind-the-scenes theater experience.  In this 3-hour introductory workshop, students will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of theater sound and lighting systems in a professional theater, using professional sound and lighting equipment.  

This workshop will be “hands-on” and students will set up a basic sound system and will hang, patch and focus a lighting instrument.  Interested students will also have the opportunity to reinforce the skills they learn by volunteering backstage at the Carson City Talent Show. Students will be able to work with professional audio engineers, lighting designers and stage managers in a real world environment.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, December 4 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and will be taught by Preston Dunn, Technical Supervisor at the Bob Boldrick Theater as well as a freelance systems technician. He has assisted on over 900 performances in the past 10 years. Preston has done lighting and audio design with groups like Starship, Miss Nevada Pageant, Captain and Tenniel, Valor MMA Fighting, Lacy J. Dolton and most recently the AFSCME Democratic Forum.
